‘India Made It Look So Easy…’ - Markram Lauds SKY And Co. After Third T20I

Hosts South Africa, under Aiden Markram, slumped to a 106-run larrupe at the hands of India in the third T20I at Johannesburg. The outcome ensured the three-match series concluded on levelling terms, with both teams taking the T20 honours prior to the ODI segment of the tour.

After the match, Proteas skipper Markram hailed Team India’s collective all-round performance, and lamented his side for failing to get close to a “chaseable” score in the series decider.

During the post-match presentation, Aiden Markram claimed that he initially backed his side to chase down India’s 201-run total considering the wicket was still excellent to bat on.

As it turned out, the Proteas folded up for just 95 in 13.5 overs owing to a demolition job from Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Markram said:

“To be honest, we were happy with chasing that score of 200+. The wicket was excellent, small ground, and we were okay with the score knowing how the pitch played as I watched it when fielding. Felt we could have chased it down. Was chaseable. It was slightly on the lower side.”

The South African captain added that Indian batters made batting look extremely easy with their run-fest upfront. His opposite number, Suryakumar Yadav, blasted a 56-ball century, while visiting opener Yashasvi Jaiswal also listed 60 from just 41 balls at the top. Praising India’s belligerent batting effort, Markram stated:

“It seemed batters could hit it everywhere when they were batting. But it was their batters who batted excellently and made it look so easy.”

Aiden Markram will now lead the South African team in the subsequent three-match ODI series against the visiting Indians. The first match will be played at the same Johannesburg venue on December 17. Thereafter, the two teams will travel to Port Elizabeth and Paarl for the final two fixtures on December 19 and December 21, respectively.
