India pacer Mohammed Siraj was accorded a rousing reception when he arrived in his hometown Hyderabad on Friday (5 July) after India's T20 World Cup victory at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, he said it was a proud moment to win the
T20 World Cup and that it was difficult to describe his feelings.

India has been waiting for a long time: Mohammed Siraj

"India has been waiting for a long time to get the World Cup. Very happy (to have won now)," he said.

Scores of fans gathered around his car and cheered as he waved at them from his car's sunroof at Mehdipatnam here.

India secured their second T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa in a thrilling final by seven runs, adding to their first victory in 2007. The Indian team celebrated this historic win with grand festivities in Mumbai and Delhi.

The Mumbai celebrations were particularly spectacular, featuring a victory parade from Nariman Point through Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium, where thousands of fans gathered to cheer for their champions.

Before the Mumbai festivities, the team met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, where they were lauded for their outstanding performance.
