'I Will Break That Door Open' - Virat Kohli's U19 World Cup Teammate Eyes India Comeback

Amongst the forgotten cricketers in the Indian hierarchy, Punjab pacer Siddharth Kaul laid bare his brewing desire to wear the national colours once again and insisted he will never give up on his dream to make a comeback for Team India.

Kaul, who played 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is for India during the 2018-19 international season, hasn't featured in India jersey since his last outing back in February 2019. The 33-year-old failed to make an impression, taking no wickets in his three One-Dayers and conceded runs at 8.69 for his four T20I scalps.

With doubts emerging on his pace and execution against top-level players, the earnest cricketer was dropped by the selection committee and seems to have fallen out of reckoning amidst stiff competition for slots in the pace department.

Kaul On Desire To Make India Comeback

Kaul, however, isn't willing to lose hope and continues to believe his time under the sun at the domestic level will eventually bear him the desired fruits. The medium pacer has been putting in the hard yards for Punjab in the beginning phase of the 2023-24 domestic season.

He took 16 wickets from 11 matches as Punjab's lead pacer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament and backed it up with a stellar 19 scalps in just six outings of the Vijay Hazare Trophy List A competition at an average of 15.10.

"Till the time I am playing I'd love to play again for my country. I am not going to think about whether someone's watching me play or not. I will continue to give my best," Kaul told Sportskeeda in an interview.

"I am never going to stop trying. I will break that door open. I will break that door with such force that they'll have to say, 'Brother, you please come in'. I'd like to achieve that," he added.
