One day after teams are done compiling their desired squads at the mini-auction to be held on December 19 in Dubai, the IPL governing council will announce a fresh trade window for all the franchises as a final opportunity to snatch their preferred players from other sides.

The IPL 2024 trade window will be reopened by the BCCI and the league's governing council on December 20 and run up until a month before the start of the annual T20 carnival's next edition in March-May.

In this window, teams will have their final opportunity to undergo discussions with fellow franchises for their respective interests and potentially exchange one or two of their players ahead of the IPL 2024.

IPL 2024 Trade Window To Reopen

The previous trade window leading into the IPL 2024 mini-auction concluded on December 12 and featured two marquee trades done by the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise.

The five-time champions not only released their previous highest bid player Cameron Green and traded him to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after bagging his services at 16.75 crores ahead of IPL 2023 but also brought in their premier white-ball allrounder Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans (GT).

MI traded Pandya from Titans despite him forging a two-year successful stint with a title in IPL 2022 and a runners-up finish last summer. The franchise is understood to have paid him INR 15 crores plus 50% sum of an undisclosed transfer fee to resecure his services in time for the auction. They've since also named him their new skipper.

Apart from being involved in the Green and Pandya trades, MI also brought in West Indies allrounder Romario Shepherd from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in another on-way all-cash deal.

Two other trades involved Rajasthan Royals (RR) releasing Devdutt Padikkal to the Lucknow franchise in return for pacer Avesh Khan and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) exchanging Mayank Dagar for Shahbaz Ahmed with RCB franchise.
