Priyank Panchal, a highly talented batter who primarily plays in the top order, has emerged as a potential solution to India's batting struggles. With an impressive record of nearly 8000 runs in First-Class cricket, including 26 centuries and 31 half-centuries, Panchal has established himself as a formidable player. Although he has come close to representing India in Tests, he remains positive and hopeful about his future opportunities.

In an exclusive interview with OneCricket, Panchal discussed his journey, ambitions, and expressed deep admiration for the leadership qualities of cricketing stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Panchal acknowledged the impact of Kohli's success, mentioning that the former Indian captain has set a benchmark for young players. Panchal himself had the privilege of being part of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) camp during their Under-15 days, where he observed Kohli's growth and development.

The Gujarat batter also spoke highly of their conduct and energies, stating that he, along with the entire team, loves playing with them. He expressed his hope that Kohli and Sharma continue to lead the team to many more victories.

"I love just love them. I love their energies. We all love them; we all would want to play with them. And more than that, I hope they keep on winning us many more games with them. They are doing really great."

Furthermore, Panchal emphasized the learning opportunities that arise from playing alongside Kohli and Sharma. He recognized the valuable lessons that can be gained from both players, indicating their positive influence on the team and the wealth of knowledge they possess.

"Virat, obviously, has set that benchmark for any youngster and even I was part of the NCA camp during our Under-15 days. I'm delighted to see him reaching that height. And, obviously, we get to learn so many things from both of them."

A huge debate began when the selectors went against selecting players such as Panchal, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sarfaraz Khan, who have tremendous performances in the domestic circles, for the upcoming West Indies tour.

Nevertheless, the 32-year-old will captain West Zone against Central Zone in the first semifinal of the Duleep Trophy 2023, starting on Wednesday.
