Virat Kohli paid a glowing tribute to his wife and Bollywood film star Anushka Sharma for her contribution and support in his journey, going to the extent of calling his strong confidant an inspirational figure in life. 

Kohli, the Indian batting legend, married to Anushka on December 11 in 2017 in a private ceremony in Italy and confirmed their bond after years of speculations among fans and the media that the two are in a relationship. 

Because of their status and popularity in respective fields, the couple has always been in the limelight and news, with the rise of social media heightening the focus on them and also leading to horrific scrutiny and negative remarks on Anushka whenever Kohli has faltered on the cricket field.

Famously, the actress faced the brunt of a billion fans when she was accused of being a distraction for Kohli after his failure in the semifinal of the 2015 edition of the World Cup. The great cricketer, however, stood by her during the difficult time and the couple has over time developed a stronger bond and thicker skin with the social media trolls. 


Kohli Lauds Wife Anushka As An Inspiration 

Kohli has always confronted the questions on Anushka with a strong outlook and praised and upheld her contribution to his journey. The former India skipper once again spoke about his inspiration in an interview with 'Wrogn' at the sidelines of the ICC World Cup 2023. 

The 34-year-old highlighted his learnings from Anushka's choices and value system in life, stating she has taught him to always stand by the truth even if the journey presents its challenges and you have to stand alone against the naysayers. 

"I have learned from Anushka how to stand by the truth when no one else is willing to believe you or even listen to what you have to say," Kohli said. 

"She always told me you know if you are standing by the truth then you don't have to worry about anything because the path will carve itself out and things will always be clean and separated."

"When you see a life partner become a mother that's when you realise and understand the strength of a mother," Kohli added, referencing to the birth of his little daughter 'Vamika' in 2021. "The way Anushka handled everything is amazing and astonishing, she shot a whole film in between."
