Talented Indian women cricketer Shreyanka Patil has said that superstar Virat Kohli is her idol, and that his on-field mannerisms come naturally to her.
Patil gave this statement after she pulled off a Kohli-esque celebration during the final of the ACC Women's Emerging Asia Cup 2023 against Bangladesh A.
After taking the catch of Bangladesh batter Shobhana Mostary off the bowling off Kanika Ahuja, the 20-year-old exulted in delight, showcasing her emotions and passion to the hilt, just like Virat does whenever he is on the field.
Reacting to her celebration, Patil later attributed it to idolizing Kohli right from her formative years, stating that it comes naturally to her.
"I have been watching Virat Kohli since I was a kid, it comes naturally to me" Shreyanka Patil told FemaleCricket.
Not only with her mannerisms, young Shreyanka also turned heads with her superlative bowling performance in the tournament.
The off-spinner claimed as many as 9 wickets in just 7 overs across two games, including 1 four-for and a five-for.
India Women Emerging Team defeated Bangladesh A in the summit clash by 31 runs to clinch the title.
After opting to bat first, India scored 127/7 in their quota of 20 overs, before knocking over the Bangladeshi women for a mere 96. The star of the final was Kanika Ahuja, who scored a 23-ball 30, before claiming 2/23 in 4 overs.
