One of the most potent exponents of swing bowling, Pakistan's speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi is making waves in the ongoing season of T20 Blast 2023 in England.

Playing for Nottinghamshire, Afridi shined with the ball in their last match against Leicestershire on Tuesday evening, claiming two wickets in the final over, all while defending 29 runs. The Lahore Qalandars skipper delivered near-perfect yorkers, which uprooted the stumps of Wiaan Mulder, and Michael Finan, respectively.

Afridi was also seen in the stands on Day 4 on Monday at Edgbaston, with England and Australia engaged in an intense battle in the first Ashes 2023 Test.

Chasing 166 to win, Leicestershire managed just 143 runs, with Mulder top-scoring with 38. Nottinghamshire captain Steven Mullaney was the pick of the bowlers claiming three wickets for 18 runs in his spell.

Earlier, Nottinghamshire scored 165 in their quota of 20 overs, with Joe Clarke contributing the most with 72. Tom Scriven starred for Leicestershire picking up four wickets for 21.

With seven wins out of 11, the Mullaney-led County are placed second on the North Group points table, only behind Warwickshire on net run rate, however, they played one extra game than the table toppers.

In 11 matches this season, the 23-year-old is the leading wicket-taker for Nottinghamshire with 16 with a best of 3 for 39. Afridi will be in action when Nottinghamshire plays Worcestershire on Thursday at New Road.
