Bangladesh batter Litton Das issued an apology after he got involved in a controversy with media personnel at the Conrad Hotel in Pune.

Litton Das, who has represented Bangladesh in 39 Tests, 80 ODIs and 73 T20Is so far, expressed his displeasure at the media persons in the team hotel lobby, and went on to lodge a complaint with the security guard.

Reportedly, those journalists were trying to click pictures of the Bangladesh opener from a long distance when the controversy erupted.

Litton's actions have ignited a controversy, leading to backlash from fans and the media. In light of this, Litton has now issued an apology for his outburst.

Here’s what Litton Das wrote in a Facebook post

“I apologise whole-heartedly for the incident that took place in the team hotel yesterday. Actually, I did not realise that a lot of journalists were present there. I am extremely sorry for the sudden mishap. I am always respectful towards the media. Journalists have played a big role in the development of Bangladesh cricket.”

Earlier, a well-respected journalist, Aasif Iqbal condemned Litton Das for his actions, asserting that Litton should not take out his performance frustrations on the media personnel.

Here’s what Asif Iqbal told the Daily Cricket:

“It was rude behaviour from Litton. We were insulted in some way and it was not possible for us to accept it. Journalists will be there where Bangladesh cricket goes.”

"The ICC had allowed us to talk to the players. Taskin (Ahmed) and Mahmudullah talked to us, but the way Litton behaved was unacceptable. He then asked the security what the mediapersons were doing. Just because he is not scoring runs doesn’t mean that he will misbehave with us.”

Litton Das had a disastrous start in the World Cup, managing to score just 89 runs from three innings at an average of 29.67, with a top score of 76 against England. His next match is against India in Pune on Thursday, October 19.
