Uncapped young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal expressed his joy and excitement after being named in India's Test squad for the upcoming tour of West Indies. Although Jaiswal is yet to make his debut at the international level, he is brimming with optimism and determination to leave a lasting impact on the global stage.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made an official announcement on Friday, unveiling a 16-member squad for the upcoming tour of the Caribbean in July. The tour will commence with a two-match Test series, marking the beginning of India's cricketing campaign in the Caribbean.

The Test team selection has brought some surprises, but the most noteworthy inclusion is that of Yashasvi Jaiswal. The left-handed batter has earned this opportunity through his consistent performances in domestic cricket. Jaiswal had an exceptional season representing Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, where he showcased his batting prowess. 

With an impressive average of 80.21, he accumulated a staggering 1,845 runs in 26 innings, establishing himself as a prolific run-getter. In First-Class cricket, he has registered nine centuries and a couple of fifties, demonstrating his ability to score big. Jaiswal's exceptional domestic season, combined with his breakthrough in the IPL 2023, has rightfully earned him a place in India's Test squad.

Interestingly, Jaiswal was part of India's stand-by players for the World Test Championship Final (WTC). When Ruturaj Gaikwad became unavailable due to his marriage, Jaiswal stepped in as his replacement.

“I’m feeling good, I will try to do my best. I am excited but at the same time I just want to go out and express myself,”  Yashasvi Jaiswal said in an interview with PTI on Friday.

Jaiswal's positive mindset reflects his determination and eagerness to showcase his skills on the field. As a young player with immense potential, he aims to make a significant impact and leave a lasting impression. The West Indies series commences with the 2- Test matches, followed by 3-ODI games and then 5-T20I matches.
