KL Rahul has often been criticised for his low strike-rate and has faced lot of trolling in the last few years. However, he remains one of the most versatile batters in Indian cricket, and has shown that in the last year or so. He did quite well on the Australia tour and the Champions Trophy that followed, and has been brilliant in IPL 2025 as well.
Sunil Shetty Opens Up On KL Rahul's New Thinking
He is playing free-flowing cricket, unlike previous IPL seasons and the newly found positive approach is earning him lot of praise and respect. In a recent Star Sports pre-match show, Sunil Shetty was asked about what has KL Rahul changed to get into the positive mode.
In reply, the Bollywood superstar and KL's father-in-law stated started off with a sarcastic tone. He mentioned on a lighter note that Rahul now concentrates more on dialogue delivery and practices fight scenes with his action directors. He then goes bit serious and mentions that there is thin line between playing aggressive cricket and reckless cricket, and players sometimes get stuck in between due to social media pressure.
He then reveals that KL Rahul has now decided to play freely and concentrate more on boundary hitting, rather than on playing steady knocks in T20 cricket.
"Pehle net practice pe zaada jaaya jaata tha, functional training kiya karta tha. Abhi mere action directors ke saath humlog fight practice karte hai. Saath saath dialogue delivery bhi karte hai. No, I think he has realised he wants to enjoy the sport, aur ek period ke baad bahut he thin line hota hai. They are trying to balance it because of social media pressure and kids get stuck there. This time he believes that he needs to express himself. Now, he has decided that jo mazza chakke chauke maarne me hai woh steady khelne me hai."
KL Rahul has scored 364 runs in eight innings of IPL 2025 with a strike-rate of 146.88 and average of 60.66. DC fans would be hoping that he continues to do well in the season and take them to the position they have never reached in IPL.
