On the back of explosive batting, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered their third-highest powerplay score against Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL (Indian Premier League) history. At Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Knight Riders were put into bat as they made optimum use of the conditions.

Kolkata Knight Riders Started Brilliantly Against Capitals

It was a brilliant start to the game for the Kolkata Knight Riders, as they wrecked havoc in the powerplay, smashing 79 runs in the first six overs, while losing just one wicket. The opening duo of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine started off decently with eight runs in the first over.

However, in the second over, bowled by Dushmantha Chameera, they went berserk, especially Narine, as they found 25 runs. The third over, against Mitchell Starc, saw Gurbaz going against the left-arm pacer, before being dismissed on the final delivery of that over, which yielded 15 runs.

Later, KKR's skipper Ajinkya Rahane entered the arena and did his job as usual, as he kept finding boundaries, with four and six coming in the fifth over against Starc, while the sixth over saw them getting 11 runs off Mukesh Kumar's over.

The opener, Gurbaz, scored 26 off 12 balls with five boundaries and a six, while Narine, who was dismissed on the fourth delivery after the completion of the powerplay, scored 27 off 16.

Ajinkya Rahane was trapped in front by opposition skipper Axar Patel after scoring 26 off 14 deliveries and made his way back to the pavilion in the eighth over.

This 79 for the loss of one wicket became the third-highest score for the Kolkata side against Delhi Capitals in IPL history as the previous two came last year at Vizag and Kolkata, respectively.
