Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has slammed Glenn Maxwell and Liam Livingstone for their underwhelming performances in IPL 2025, questioning their commitment to their franchises. Both players were benched by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) after struggling to deliver.
Glenn Maxwell has managed just 41 runs and four wickets, while Livingstone scored 87 runs. Sehwag accused the duo of treating the league like a “holiday” rather than showcasing determination.
Sehwag’s Sharp Remarks For Maxwell & Livingstone
Virender Sehwag didn't mince his words while criticising Maxwell and Livingstone for their lack of fight and hunger to improve in IPL, mentioning that IPL is like a 'vacation' for them.
"I feel like Maxwell and Livingstone's hunger is gone. Yeh yahaan holiday manane aate hai, holiday manaakar chale jaate hain. (They just come here for a holiday). They arrive, have their fun, and leave. There's no visible desire to fight for the team. I've spent time with a lot of former players, but only 1 or 2 really gave me the feeling that, 'Yes, I genuinely want to do something for the team" Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.
Virat Kohli’s Milestone Dominance Against PBKS
Meanwhile, Kohli’s 73* off 54 balls against PBKS was his fourth fifty this season. With 8,326 IPL runs at an average of 39.27, he now leads Warner and Shikhar Dhawan.
The RCB star has been pivotal in chases, delivering match-winning knocks of 59, 62, and 73* in IPL 2025. Currently the third-highest scorer this season (322 runs at 64.40), Kohli’s form remains a silver lining for RCB despite their struggles.
RCB, currently placed third on the points table is currently going strong with 5 wins out of their 8 matches and a NRR of +0.472. The Patidar-led team avenged their first loss against Punjab Kings and will now head to their next game against Rajasthan Royals at Chinnaswamy on April 24.
