India are up against Australia in the second Test of the five match series at the Adelaide Oval. Rohit Sharma, the visiting skipper won the toss and opted to bat first. However, at Lunch on Day 1 the visitors won't be happy with the progress they have made.
The Indian team pinned much of their hopes on their left-handed opening batter, Yashasvi Jaiswal. The southpaw was coming into this game on the back of a brilliant Hundred in the second innings of the first Test.
However, Jaiswal was dismissed off the first delivery of the first match. It was a beauty of a ball by Starc that defeated the left-handed batter. The pace and movement of the ball did Jaiswal in and he had to walk back to the hut.
What Was So Special About The Delivery By Starc?
Three things defeated Yashasvi Jaiswal on the first delivery of the match -
- Speed Of The Delivery: The speed of delivery was about 140.4 KMPH. The first ball being at that speed surprised Jaiswal. He was not ready for the pace so early in his knock. There was no warm up delivery Starc and he was straight on the money catching the opener short of attention.
- Late Movement In Air: If we look at the ball carefully we will see that the ball was actually going down the leg stump with angle of release. However, the ball swung in air and changed trajectory to pitch in line and then go past Jaiswal's flick. The late swing in air was something the Indian batter was not ready for and hence failed to connect it with his bat.
