'Henry Also Conceded 50+ Runs..'- Shaheen Afridi Backs Haris Rauf Amid Criticism

Pakistan's ace speedster Shaheen Afridi has had a disastrous beginning to his T20I captaincy stint, with the Men in Green losing three consecutive games on their ongoing New Zealand tour. On Wednesday, Pakistan had another miserable outing on the field, as the Kiwis thrashed them by 45 runs in a high-scoring encounter in Dunedin.

Besides most of the batters, experienced pacer Haris Rauf emerged as one of the major disappointments for Pakistan, conceding 60 runs in his four-over spell.

However, skipper Shaheen Afridi has backed the out-of-form pacer amid backlashes from his critics.

Speaking after the game, Afridi termed Rauf as Pakistan's best T20I bowler, explaining how every sportsperson goes through rough phases in life. The speedster also took a cheeky dig at fans and media, accusing them of hypocrisy.

"Haris Rauf is our best T20 bowler. When we win you rate him as the best, but when we lose then he is the problem. Matt Henry also conceded 50+ runs, it happens".

Just like Rauf, Shaheen has had torrid times with the ball, scalping only four wickets in three matches at a horrendous economy of 9.91.

As Pakistan have already lost the series, the duo is expected to play with a nothing to lose attitude and help the team break their losing streak in the fourth dead-rubber at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
