Yashasvi Jaiswal's childhood coach, Jwala Singh, has predicted the youngster will score at least two more centuries on his maiden England tour. Jaiswal had a stellar start to the English summer, slamming a magnificent hundred in India's five-Test series opener at Headingley.
Jaiswal's Coach Backs Him For Two More Test Tons In England
Opening the batting for India, Jaiswal battled with cramps while putting up a memorable performance in the Leeds Test. Before getting out, the southpaw struck 101 runs, including 16 fours and a six, becoming the first Indian opener to register a Test ton at the iconic venue.
Following his blitzkreig at Headingley, Jaiswal's coach Jwala Singh predicted that the batter would slam at least two more Test tons in the remainder of the series.
"Given the coach's confidence, he might score at least two more centuries. I had expected two centuries in Australia, but that didn't happen. However, I think he'll score at least two more centuries here. He's worked hard on his game," Jwala Singh said during an exclusive chat with NDTV.
The coach also lauded his disciple for his adaptability and remarkable returns on maiden overseas tours of Australia, West Indies and England. He shed light on Jaiswal's mental toughness while highlighting his ability to frustrate the opponents with extraordinary boundary hitting skills.
"The way he scored the century and the shots he played are remarkable. I've known him since he was 12, and he's mentally tough. His boundary shots were controlled, and this innings will be remembered for a long time. It reminded me of Sourav Ganguly's innings at Lord's. Left-handed centuries have a special class," Singh was further quoted by NDTV.
After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, India had a dream start to their first innings. Although KL Rahul departed for 42, Jaiswal and Gill slammed sublime centuries, with the visitors finishing the day with 359 runs for the loss of three wickets.
