Senior Indian batter KL Rahul has offered his insights on facing Jasprit Bumrah in the nets. It is worth noting that the Indian Test opener holds a stellar track record against the legendary fast bowler, as evidenced by his stats in IPL cricket.

Quite recently, KL Rahul was asked to reflect his impressive IPL record against Bumrah, where he highlighted the risk of facing the senior paceman during training sessions.

KL Rahul fears Bumrah might “break his head”

While speaking on the Humans of Bombay YouTube channel, KL Rahul refused to agree that he holds an impressive record against Jasprit Bumrah, jokingly fearing that the fast bowler might break his head or toe the next time they cross paths in the nets. He said:

“I will not agree because he’ll break my head in the next net. He’ll break my head or break my toe in the next session. So, I’m not saying anything. No comments.”

KL Rahul also expressed his admirations for Jasprit Bumrah, describing him the “hardest bowler to face”. The cricketer added that facing Bumrah is tougher for overseas players, since Indian batters are already used to playing him in the nets. He added:

“He’s the hardest bowler to hit, to hit for sure. Now I think at least we play him day in and day out, so you’re used to his action and release point a little bit but if you are just facing him as an opposition from a different country it’s just very difficult to pick him firstly defend against him, then to even think of scoring against him becomes that much harder.”

Compatible to the interviewer’s claims, KL Rahul averages 73 against Jasprit Bumrah in IPL cricket. The senior Indian batter has aggregated 146 runs off Bumrah from just 118 balls, at an expense of just two dismissals.

Nonetheless, both KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah are currently prepping themselves to face South Africa in the series-deciding second Test, scheduled to be played from November 22 onwards in Guwahati.
