Emerging young cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal recently shared his experience of meeting the legendary MS Dhoni for the first time, calling it a momentous occasion in his life. The encounter provided Jaiswal with the opportunity to observe Dhoni up close, leaving a lasting impression on him.

In the midst of IPL matches, Jaiswal made an effort to engage in a conversation with Dhoni, seeking valuable insights from the veteran player. Dhoni, known for his calm demeanour and astute understanding of the game, offered Jaiswal some valuable advice.

According to Jaiswal, Dhoni emphasized the importance of playing cricketing shots and maintaining unwavering faith in oneself. These seemingly simple principles hold significant value in the world of cricket, but their practical implementation can be incredibly challenging. Dhoni's guidance highlighted the need for mental composure and finding inner peace amid the pressures of the game.

"It was a great moment in my life. It was the first time I had seen Dhoni up close. I tried in the middle of games to have a conversation with him. He told me to keep playing cricketing shots and keep faith in myself and to keep my mind at peace. These are simple things but they are very difficult to do in real life. You need a lot of patience," said Yashasvi Jaiswal in a chat with The Indian Express.

The young cricketer's account of his interaction with Dhoni sheds light on the immense impact the former captain has on aspiring players. Dhoni's ability to impart wisdom and provide guidance showcases his role as a mentor and inspiration for the next generation of cricketers.

Nevertheless, Jaiswal - who was with the Indian Test side as a reverse batter during the WTC Final 2023 - has earnt his maiden national call-up for the West Indies tour, where he is touted to succeed Cheteshwar Pujara in the Test setup.
