In the 14th match of the IPL 2024 at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians (MI) hosted Rajasthan Royals (RR). To their dissapointment, MI, led by the newly appointed captain, Hardik Pandya faced their third consecutive defeat in IPL 2024 as Sanju Samson and Co. won the match by 6 wickets. 

Former skipper and opener Rohit Sharma flopped against RR speedster Trent Boult and got out for a golden duck. The New Zealand cricketer, also scalped the wickets of Naman Dhir and Dewald Brevis for golden ducks. 

Rajasthan Royals bowled brilliantly well tonight as they restricted the mighty Mumbai Indians to a low score of 125/9 after 20 overs.

After the defeat, a dressing room video went viral, in which, Nita Ambani and Akash Ambani, the owners of the Mumbai Indians, awarded Akash Madhwal the dressing room Player of the Match. 

The young pacer accepted the award gracefully and after receiving it he dedicated the award to former captain of MI Rohit Sharma.  

“Thank you so much for this opportunity. And thank you, Rohit. He has supported me a lot. This one goes to him.” Akash said. 

Pacer Akash Madhwal was the only positive for the Mumbai Indians in their defeat against RR. Mumbai Indians pacer Akash clinched three wickets and conceded only 27 runs. 

Akash Madhwal scalped three wickets - Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and Ravichandran Ashwin. The bowler used the piquancy of the Wankhede pitch to bowl hard-length deliveries and turned out the star bowler for MI.
