Royal Challengers Bengaluru are flying high in IPL 2025 and a big reason behind that is their fresh finisher firepower. One name that is making all the noise is Jitesh Sharma, who has gone from hot-and-cold to hot-as-fire in just one season and he knows exactly who to thank for it.

Jitesh Sharma Credits Dinesh Karthik For His Finisher Makeover

Every time Jitesh Sharma steps out now, he looks like a man reborn. His game is sharper, more polished and way more unpredictable. Credit? All goes to RCB mentor and finisher king Dinesh Karthik.

"It's been a great journey till now because in the off-season, I really worked hard with him. I think the whichever shot which I am playing right now is the replica of what he used to play. He is trying to create a new player in me, because he believes that I can play 360 degrees. I am really enjoying myself in this new role,” said Jitesh.

Dinesh Karthik saw something in Jitesh. And instead of tweaking things here and there, he decided to reinvent the man. With camps in January and February led by Andy Flower and the RCB brains trust, Jitesh was groomed to become the ultimate finisher. And it’s starting to show.

Jitesh isn’t just clearing the ropes now. He is pulling off scoops, ramps, funky reverse flicks, basically turning into a nightmare for bowlers at the death.

“While I am playing those shots, I am very happy [with the execution] because I have never tried those shots. And I am going to execute thanks to all the backing they give me. It's been a wonderful journey which I am still excited about," added the stumper.

From Mental Slump To Mental Steel

Last year wasn’t great. Just 187 runs at 131 strike rate and that India dream took a backseat. But Jitesh now knows why he struggled.

"I think last year's performance was my mental thing. I was not mentally in the game at that moment. I was thinking about future things. But right now, when I met Dinesh bhai, he told me that it's a human error. It's not rocket science. It does happen to everyone so it's fine,” stated Jitesh.

And once that pressure melted away, the real Jitesh showed up. A guy who doesn’t chase runs for the sake of stats, but craves wins for his team.

One Role, One Goal

Jitesh is crystal clear about his role. RCB wants him to go after specific bowlers. There’s no chaos, no confusion. It’s all calculated carnage.

“We know everyone's strengths in the batting line-up and the team management has given a proper role. Like Jitesh Sharma will go after certain bowlers, Phil Salt will go after some. That's the kind of strategy we have. So we are going very smartly. We are not trying to dominate blindly.”

And when that plan clicks? You get games like the last one, where Jitesh smashed a 19-ball 40* to power RCB to a match-winning total.

Despite the fireworks, Jitesh isn’t getting carried away. He is still grinding, still learning under DK’s shadow. But one thing’s certain: the version we are seeing now is just the beginning.
