Team India seems to have taken a leaf out of England's 'BazBall' textbook, as evidenced by their batting approach against West Indies on Day 4 of the second Test.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma, alongside his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal, motored their team's second innings total past the 100-run mark in just above 12 overs worth of play. In doing so, Sharma's pantheons soared past Sri Lanka's 22-year-old world record to claim a new height in Test cricket.


India register fastest team 100 in Test history

Indian openers made their way into the crease early on Day 4 after speedster Mohammed Siraj had skittled out West Indies for 255 within the morning session.

With weather projections predicting heavy rains on the final two days of play, both Sharma and Jaiswal launched an all-out batting assault from the outset, with Team India racing past the 50-run mark in just five-and-a-half overs.

Sharma eventually succumbed in quest of quick runs, with the team's score reaching 98 in 11.5 overs. Three deliveries later, India reached 100 to register the fastest team hundred in Test cricket's history. They eclipsed the previous record scaled by Sri Lanka (13.2 overs) during a 2001 home Test against Bangladesh by a full over.

In the meantime, India's lead mounted past 350 runs, with Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan occupying the crease. The two youngsters batted with the same intent previously set by the opening pair.

At the time of publishing, captain Sharma called for a declaration to the innings at 181-2 from just 24 overs, setting hosts a target of 365 runs.
