In an engaging session of RCB's Bold Diaries, Virat Kohli expressed his anticipation for the match, noting the significance of competing against CSK and the unique experience of playing at the Chepauk Stadium, renowned for its passionate fan base.

He pointed out the special nature of the encounter, often dubbed the Southern Derby, and shared his eagerness to connect with MS Dhoni, with whom he hasn't interacted in some time.

"Playing against Chennai is obviously always a special occasion, a big game. You know, the Southern Derby as they call it. Yeah, it's nice to play infront of very passionate Chennai fans and yeah good to catch up with MS Dhoni, it's been a while," said Kohli.

Last season, Kohli was among the top performers, securing the fourth position in the highest run-getters list with 639 runs at an impressive average of 53.25 and a strike rate of 139.82, including two centuries and six half-centuries. Despite his remarkable individual success, Kohli's efforts were not enough to propel RCB into the playoffs.

It is worth mentioning that Kohli, who is the all-time leading run-scorer in IPL history, has amassed a staggering 7,263 runs across 237 matches at an average of 37.24 and a strike rate of 130.02. His record includes seven centuries, the highest in the league, and 50 half-centuries.

As the 17th season of the IPL kicks off on Friday, the limelight will be on the defending champions, CSK, as they face off against RCB in what is expected to be a gripping encounter in the Southern derby.
