Ahead of the crucial World Cup 2023 opener against Australia, the Indian team were jolted with Shubman Gill's illness.

The opener was diagnosed with Dengue, days before the Australia clash, and the fans and the team management have kept their fingers crossed regarding Gill's health. There have been speculations that the opener might miss the opening two matches of the World Cup (against Australia and Afghanistan).

Now, just a day before the riveting contest against the Aussies, skipper Rohit Sharma attended the pre-match press conference, and gave an update about Gill's health.

He is not 100%: Rohit on Gill

"The mood is pretty good, we are looking forward to the game, Gill is not 100 percent fit we will be monitoring him but none of the injury concerns in the team and gill is not out yet," said Rohit.

The Indian captain also reflected on the upcoming game against Australia, and stated that the Indian side knows their strengths, and will bring their best against the 5-time World Champions.

"What we have done in the past it's not matter that much we know how Australia plays in icc tournaments , we have to focus on our strength and we have to go through with the conditions, we played against Australia in March at the same venue , but it's a fresh game and fresh start for both team."

The India vs Australia World Cup clash takes place at the iconic M.A Chidambaram Stadium on October 8, Sunday. This will be the first match for both the teams in the tournament.
