Pakistan’s former captain and ex-PCB chairman Ramiz Raja has revealed that Babar Azam was deeply frustrated by the constant criticism and personal comments directed at him after poor performance. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ramiz said the two met recently at a cafe, where Babar openly discussed how difficult the attacks on his form and his place in the team had become.

Ramiz explained that Babar Azam had "expressed his frustration" about the harsh judgment he faced, especially during a long period in which he failed to score runs. According to Ramiz, Babar felt hurt by the personal nature of some remarks made about him.

"I met him recently in a cafe and he expressed his frustration at the way he had to face criticism, personal comments over his place in the team and his performances," Ramiz said.

The former PCB chairman said he gave Babar a simple message - stay calm and let his batting do the talking.

"Just continue to do what you have done, be patient and show restraint and don't react to outside noises. Because as a player your only job is to perform on the field."

He also praised Babar for not responding publicly to the criticism, saying he admired the batter’s discipline and silence during a challenging time. He also suggested that Babar should not worry about strike rate debates. Ramiz said Babar has all the shots and only needs to bat longer to regain peak form.

"He has all the shots and he is a treat to watch even when he defends. He shouldn't be worried about strike rates; he just needs to bat longer," he said.

It is important to mention that Babar Azam recently made a strong comeback during the second ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. He scored a century, ending a long stretch of 807 days and 83 innings without a hundred. The knock also helped him reach 6,500 ODI runs and surpass 600 fours in ODIs.
