Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal opened up about the comparisons between him and Shubman Gill with cricket legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Addressing the growing expectations, Yashasvi Jaiswal emphasized that he and Gill are focused on their own game and not burdened by the comparisons.

Jaiswal and Gill Focus on Their Own Game

"I think what they have done for Indian cricket is just incredible and being a part of that dressing room is a blessing. We (him and Gill) are trying to take it match-by-match and one day at a time, focusing on the process," Jaiswal said in a post-match conference.

This approach reflects their determination to carve their paths without the weight of being the next Rohit and Kohli.

After the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph in Barbados, Rohit and Kohli announced their retirement from T20Is, marking the end of an era.

This handed over the baton to young talents like Jaiswal and Gill, who have already impressed in the ongoing 5-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. Jaiswal's unbeaten 93-run knock in the 4th T20I was a testament to his growing dominance.

Reflecting on his interactions with Rohit and Kohli, Jaiswal said their guidance has been pivotal in his development.

"It does help to control emotions a lot and read the game better as there are different situations on the ground. Every time you talk to Rohit bhai or Virat bhaiyya, I get a lot of experience, enjoy talking to them, and learning from them."

With 631 runs in 19 T20I matches at a strike rate of 161.79, Jaiswal's performance speaks for itself. His humble approach and focus on continuous improvement are commendable.

As Jaiswal and Gill continue to shine, fans eagerly watch to see if they will indeed become the next legendary duo in Indian cricket, following in the footsteps of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
