The newly-appointed head coach of the Pakistan Men’s Test team, Jason Gillespie, stressed the importance of players maintaining their authenticity and not altering their game style to conform to a specific method. He encourages them to remain positive and aggressive, traits vital for enduring the challenges of Test cricket.

During a discussion on the PCB podcast regarding his appointment as the Pakistan Test coach, Gillespie shared his philosophy. He emphasized the need for players to stay true to themselves rather than trying to emulate a style that may not suit them, stating that his approach differs from Australia’s aggressive playing style.

Gillespie's warning to Pakistan team

"I simply want the Pakistan cricket team to play the style of cricket that's going to suit them; for me, that's important. My philosophy is - don't try to be something that you're not. You've got to be authentic in how you go about it. I will go out there and say: just be positive, aggressive, entertaining. Play with a smile on your faces and entertain our fans,”  Gillespie was quoted as saying in a Pakistan Cricket Board podcast.

Bringing extensive coaching experience to his new role, Gillespie has previously held coaching positions in various capacities across the globe. However, the stint with Pakistan team will be his first with an international Test side.

For those unfamiliar, Gillespie's first assignment as the head coach of the Pakistan Test team will be overseeing the home series against Bangladesh scheduled for August.

Following this, he will lead the team in the series against England in October, followed by an away series against South Africa in December.
