Dube At 3, Kohli At 4? India Legend Proposes Unique Idea Days Ahead Of T20 WC Selection

Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh advocates for flexibility in India's T20 World Cup strategy. He suggests that if there are six or seven overs remaining in a match, Virat Kohli should consider moving down the batting order to number 4, allowing Shivam Dube to take the number 3 position for the Men in Blue.

Harbhajan proposed this adjustment for the Indian team's lineup ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled for later this June.

In a recent discussion with Star Sports, the Turbanator delved into the team's composition and playing XI for the upcoming World Cup. The legendary cricketer emphasized the importance of a left-right hand combination in the middle order. He voiced his preference for seeing a dynamic batter like Dube bat above Kohli, if such a player is available in the team.

“If six-seven overs are played, and if we have a player like Shivam Dube, he can walk in at no.3. Kohli can then walk in at 4. Kohli is a great player, whether he plays at no.3 or 4, the team comes first. Even if you ask him this question, he will say the team comes first,"  said Harbhajan Singh.

Although the Indian squad has not been announced yet, Virat Kohli and Shivam Dube are expected to be part of the 15-man squad that will travel to the USA and West Indies. The squad announcement will be made before May 1st.
