The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is turning heads with exceptional excitement. After a thumping win in the first Test match, Team India faced a heartbreaking defeat in the second Test. But in both Test matches, Jasprit Bumrah has been a consistent performer in both matches.

As the third Test looms soon, concerns were raised over Bumrah’s workload management. But former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar shared his take on that. He said that Bumrah should feature in the rest of the matches of the ongoing series.

Manjrekar’s Take on Bumrah

The excitement of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has come back. India started the campaign with a massive win but faced an immediate setback in the second Test. In both matches, Jasprit Bumrah provided incredible support to the team. As the next matches are set to commence soon, questions are raised over his workload management. But former Indian star Sanjay Manjrekar thinks Bumrah should play this ongoing Test series.

“I play him every Test match purely because Indian cricket takes care of Bumrah. And I've said this before as well, the number is etched in my head. 34% of international matches that India have played in the last three years is what Bumrah has played. Only 34% of what Indian cricket has played. So he's well rested. And this is when you need, because these are the series that will be remembered forever.”

The former Indian player also thinks, the team management can think about the speedster's rest in some bilateral series which is not that crucial.

“Give him a break in one of those bilaterals that we forget 48 hours later.”

Bumrah’s Recent Form and Team India’s WTC Hope

In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Jasprit Bumrah is showcasing his excellence again. In the Perth Test, he led Team India in Rohit Sharma and stunned the fans with an amazing fifer in the first innings. In the second innings, he secured another three crucial wickets. In the recently ended pink ball Test, he secured 4 crucial wickets in the first innings. In two Test matches, the pacer secured already secured 12 scalps.

After facing a massive defeat in the Adelaide Test, Team India’s calculation to qualify for the WTC final became tougher. To qualify for the final match of the event, they need to win all the upcoming matches of the ongoing series. If they won the ongoing series by a 3-1 margin, they could also qualify for the WTC final without other’s help. Team India’s next action is all set to take place in Brisbane on December 14. Rohit Sharma and Co. will try hard to bounce back and achieve their WTC dream.
