'Can Take Game Away...': Shakib Al Hasan Hails Rohit Sharma Ahead Of T20 WC Warm-Up Tie

Bangladesh veteran Shakib Al Hasan has heaped a significant praise on Indian captain Rohit Sharma ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup warm-up match between the two teams.

On Friday, i.e., a day prior to India’s warm-up tie against Bangladesh at New York’s Nassau County International Stadium, the Star Sports network shared a short video where Shakib can be seen admiring Sharma’s ‘tremendous’ captaincy record and his ability of snatching the game away from the opposition.


Shakib Al Hasan hails Indian captain Rohit Sharma

Shakib Al Hasan lauded Rohit Sharma’s captaincy record and individual brilliance as an attacking opening batter.

While speaking on the Star Sports network, the former Bangladesh captain said that Sharma is highly respected as a leader by his peers and holds a ‘tremendous record’ as Indian skipper.

Notably, both Shakib Al Hasan and Rohit Sharma are the only two cricketers from the 2024 T20 World Cup to have participated in each edition of the multi-nation tournament to date. The two players made their respective T20 World Cup debuts back in 2007 in South Africa.

As of now, both India and Bangladesh teams are gearing up to face each other in a warm-up match on June 1. The match will be played at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York and the action will commence from 8:00 PM IST onwards.

Bangladesh players recently competed in a short T20I series against hosts USA in Prairie View. Under the leadership of Najmul Hossain Shanto, the visitors lost the three-match series by a 1-2 margin.

The Indian players, on the other hand, rehearsed for the 2024 T20 World Cup through the recently-concluded IPL 2024 season.
