'BCCI is the Most Incompetent Sporting Body in the World': Journalists Mock Indian Board

Broadcasters Adam Collins and Geoff Lemon have criticized the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the scheduling of the ICC World Cup 2023 in India. This comes after the board secretary, Jay Shah, announced that there would be changes in some of the fixtures for the tournament.

Shah announced last month that the high-octane match between India and Pakistan will be played at a different date than what was originally scheduled. The change is being made due to the Navratri festival, which is particularly popular in Gujarat, where the match will take place.

The match was supposed to take place on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad but has been rescheduled for a day earlier. Shah also said that a few other cricket boards have also requested a change in their team's schedule.

Broadcasters Lemon and Collins have now criticised the BCCI for the rescheduling and called it an "incompetent sporting body".

'There's too many logistical hurdles you're making us jump through here. You've got to give us more time for travel and so on'. So they are considering that," Collins said on The Final Word podcast.

Agreeing with Collins, Lemon said:

"The BCCI I think, must be the most incompetent major sporting body in the world. It's pretty hard to make the argument otherwise, just on purely the practical grounds that we're laying here."

Lemon added: "There is a World Cup in now, what, under three months that still doesn't have a reliable fixture. You can't book to go to games because they might change to another city and date entirely.

The BCCI, I don't think they are evil... They're just really bad at doing stuff."

The World Cup 2023 is set to begin from October 5, with New Zealand set to take on England in the tournament opener. India-Pakistan, the arch-rivals are likely to collide on October 14 in Ahmedabad.
