The LPL 2024 Qualifier 2 turned out to be a last-over thriller as Jaffna Kings managaed to clinch the game by a single run. Jaffna Kings scored 187 in the first innings and in reply, Kandy Falcons started brightly with Andre Fletcher scoring runs briskly in the Powerplay.

However, it was fellow Caribbean cricketer Fabian Allen who got the better of Fletcher right after the Powerplay. It was a brilliant change of pace by Allen, he bowled an arm ball on off and Fletcher just could not get his bat down in time as the ball knocked over the off pole. Allen did not stop there though, and came out with some hilarous dance moves shaking his body in joy.

The wicket turned out to be a crucial one and Allen did not stop there, he picked four wickets in the match which included big wickets of Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews and Dasun Shanaka and his spell turned out to be the difference in the end. 

Earlier, Kusal Mendis scored a century in the first innings to take Jaffna to a good total of  187, and despite late onslaught by Ramesh Mendis, Falcones failed to get over the line.
