In the world of cricket, there are few names as illustrious as Virat Kohli's. His consistent performance on the field has earned him respect and admiration from fans and fellow cricketers alike.

Recently, former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir joined the chorus of praise for the Indian batting maestro during the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.

Kohli's exceptional form in the World Cup has been a sight to behold. His ability to rise to the occasion and deliver for the Indian team in crucial moments has further solidified his reputation as one of the greatest batters of our time.

Amir, however, took a unique stance in this conversation. He emphasised that comparing Virat Kohli to anyone is simply foolish and Kohli might have already surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s records if he had played against weaker teams. Instead, Amir stressed the importance of recognising a player's intent and commitment to the game.

Here's what Amir said:

“I don't know why people keep comparing Virat Kohli; any comparison is stupid. Secondly, you have to look at the player’s intent. He was playing ball-to-ball (against Sri Lanka), and he was trying.”

He further said

“Had Virat Kohli played series against Netherlands, Nepal, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe then he would have broken Sachin Tendulkar’s record by now. He doesn’t play against these teams.”

In the match against Sri Lanka, the Delhi-born cricketer showcased his mettle by scoring a remarkable 88 runs. As India prepares to face South Africa on November 5th, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await more exemplary performances from 'Men in Blue'.
