Team India has arrived in Kolkata, two days prior to their planned World Cup 2023 fixture against South Africa. The ‘Men in Blue’ recently trounced Sri Lanka at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium to register their seventh successive win of the tournament.
Rohit Sharma and co. will be aiming to sustain their unbeaten run when they will take field against South Africa at the iconic Eden Gardens on November 5.
Indian players arrive in Kolkata for World Cup 2023
India’s World Cup 2023 players, including Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj along with the support staff were recently spotted at the Kolkata airport. Surrounded by media personnel, the cricketers were seemingly making their way into the team bus.
Quiet recently, Rohit Sharma’s troops became the first World Cup 2023 team to qualify for the semi-finals. They have registered seven wins from seven matches to date, as they continue to remain the only unbeaten side of the tournament.
The ‘Men in Blue’ launched their campaign with emphatic run-chase wins over Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, New Zealand and Bangladesh. Upon being asked to bat first by their opponents, the marauding Indian bunch outclassed defending champions England in Lucknow and Sri Lanka in Mumbai to make seven in seven.
Currently placed at the top of the 2023 World Cup points table, they are set to encounter possibly their toughest challenge yet by going up against South Africa.
