Pakistan To Qualify For World Cup Semifinal? What If NZ Vs SL Is Abandoned Due To Rain

The World Cup 2023 is now in its business end and every game from here is quite important for the teams that are still in the race for a semifinal berth. India and South Africa have already qualified and Australia too are on a brink of qualification. However, the race is heating up for that one semi-final spot with a three-way battle between New Zealand, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Kiwis are in the best position to seal that fourth spot currently and just need to win their final game against Sri Lanka. However, the game is at Bengaluru where rain is having a big say currently and it is raining cats and dogs in what is called as the 'Silicon Valley of India.' New Zealand lost their last game against Pakistan at Bengaluru due to DLS method despite posting a mammoth 401 on the board.

Watch rain in Bangalore ahead of NZ-SL game

The Blackcaps would not like the repeat of same against the Lankans and if that game does get washout due to rain, New Zealand will get stuck at 9 points and Pakistan would be in with a great chance.

In such a case, Pakistan would just need to win their final game against England provided Afghanistan does not win their last two games against Australia and South Africa. It is surely getting very interesting and let's hope that cricket takes centrestage and rain stays away when New Zealand takes on Sri Lanka at M. Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru on 9th of November.
