The Mumbai Indians are one of the most successful and consistent teams in the history of the Indian Premier League. The fact that they have the joint highest number of titles along with the Chennai Super Kings indicates the domination they have maintained in the tournament over the years.
One of the prime reasons behind the domination of MI in the tournament has been Jasprit Bumrah. The Indian ace pacer has been a true asset for the team with his ability to pick up crucial wickets at all the stages of a game.
Why Will Jasprit Bumrah Not Play In IPL 2025?
The Indian team is currently playing in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Jasprit Bumrah has been the one and only asset for the team and has been the go to option for Rohit Sharma whenever the team has needed wickets. Although, Bumrah has delivered each time the skipper has called upon, his workload management has taken a hit.
Bumrah is being overused and has absorbed a lot of pressure in this series. In fact in the second innings of the fourth Test he has been used for 23 overs across 8 spells out of the first 72 overs. After this India will be seen in the Champions Trophy before IPL 2025. It is expected that during that tournament too, Bumrah will be India's key pacer and prime wicket-taking option. With so much pressure on the bowler, there is a chance that he coud get injured or decides to take rest in some of the matches during IPL 2025.
If this at all happens and Bumrah is unable to play in IPL 2025, then these are the three players Mumbai Indians can bring up to replace him -
3. Chetan Sakariya
The Indian left-arm medium pacer has impressed with his exploits in the T20 format. One of the best parts of Chetan Sakariya's performance has been that he has proven his effectiveness in all the stages of a game.

The 26-year-old pacer has picked up 20 wickets in 19 matches at an average of 29.95 while having an economy rate of 8.44. If we go quality wise there is no replacement of Bumrah, however Sakariya with his variations and experience in the league could be a good make shift option.
2. Kartik Tyagi
The Indian pacer promised a lot when he burst into the seen. However, despite a promising start, Kartik Tyagi has not emerged as the start that he was expected to be. But he does have the talent and potential to turn things around if he gets a proper chance.

Tyagi has played 20 matches in the IPL and has picked up 15 wickets in them while having an economy of over 10. While the numbers don't look too impressive, Tyagi did prove himself to be a gutsy customer during his early days in the tournament.
1. Vidhwath Kaverappa
Vidhwath Kaverappa has been doing a brilliant job in the domestic T20s for the past couple of seasons. His numbers look extra ordinary and he has already proven himself as one of the best in the business in the domestic arena.

Much like Bumrah, Kaverappa can pick up wickets at any stage of the game and change the momentum in his team's favour. In the 14 matches that he has played, Kaverappa has picked up 25 wickets while having an average of 12.48 and maintaining an economy of 6.13. He could be a highly impactful replacement for MI if Jasprit Bumrah somehow misses the next edition of the IPL.
