Round three of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season unraveled even more batting exhibitions across all 19 matches, from Elite as well as Plate divisions of the tournament. Some of these demonstrations either resulted in remarkable victories for their respective teams, or saved the game from the blushes by defying their oppositions.

Here, we take a look at the top five batting performances from round three of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy:

5. Krunal Pandya (Baroda)

Baroda captain Krunal Pandya overwhelmed Odisha bowlers with a blazing 119-run knock from just 143 balls. Glittering his innings with 15 boundaries and four huge sixes at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, the Gujarat skipper top-scored for his team and catapulted their first innings total to a humungous 456. The innings marked his third first-class ton, and his third fifty-plus score in the ongoing 2024 Ranji Trophy season as he continues to maximize his golden touch with the bat.

Shortly after Baroda’s innings victory, Krunal Pandya was fittingly adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ for his efforts.

4. Tanmay Agarwal (Hyderabad)

Hyderabad opener Tanmay Agarwal mounted 173 runs off 328 balls with 13 boundaries and two sixes in the first innings of his team’s Elite Group B match against Puducherry. Turning up for Hyderabad at the iconic Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the 29-year-old Hyderabad zealot shared 111 runs with opening partner Abhirath Reddy, and 220 runs with number three Rohit Rayudu to set up a colossal 536-8d for his team in the first innings. Tanmay Agarwal’s 14th first-class century catalyzed Hyderabad’s innings win by 50 runs, thus marking their first outright victory of the season so far.

3. Rajat Patidar (Madhya Pradesh)

RCB star Rajat Patidar, who made his Test debut for India earlier this year, shot himself back into national reckoning with a booming 68-ball century against Haryana in the Elite Group C match of the 2024 Ranji Trophy season. Batting at number three in the second Madhya Pradesh innings of the match, Patidar whacked a 68-ball hundred and went on to notch up 159 runs from just 102 deliveries against the likes of Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal with 13 sizzling boundaries and two scorching sixes.

Patidar’s thunderous knock helped Madhya Pradesh mount 308-4d in just 48.1 overs at a run-rate of 6.39. The match, however, turned out to be a drawn affair with Haryana taking home the crucial points on offer courtesy of their first innings lead.

2. Rishi Dhawan (Himachal Pradesh)

Himachal Pradesh captain Rishi Dhawan made 195 runs off 318 balls to dig his team out of trouble from 124-4 against Andhra’s 344. His fighting knock helped Himachal Pradesh make 500 runs in the first innings to gain a huge 156-run lead at the halfway stage of the match. Decorating his presence with 19 boundaries and two sixes, Rishi Dhawan’s innings not only marked his sixth first-class century, but also his highest score in the prestigious format.

Coupling his performance with three key Andhra wickets, the Punjab Kings star fittingly bagged the ‘Player of the Match’ for his all-round excellence.

1. Agni Chopra (Mizoram)

Agni Chopra, son of renowned filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, whacked his second successive double century and his third 100-plus score in succession through the course of his 218-run juggernaut against Manipur in a Plate Group match of 2024 Ranji Trophy. Batting at number three for Mizoram, Chopra faced just 269 deliveries in the process and listed 29 boundaries and a six to navigate his team to 536 runs in the first innings.
