The anticipation around the 15th edition of the Big Bash League is reaching new heights with fans eagerly waiting to see their favourite names back in the BBL's vibrant colours. The league is set the welcome back players like Babar Azam, Travis Head, and Glenn Maxwell. 

One of the most star-studded seasons ever, the Big Bash League 2025-26, introduced an upgraded overseas draft by Cricket Australia with Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze tiers, giving franchises the opportunity to sign big international names.

Notably, the Platinum category offers up to AUD 420,000 for full-season availability, hence, the highest bracket for international players.

That said, this article is all about BBL salaries, mainly the most expensive player in the Big Bash League 2025.

5. Chris Jordan (AUD 270,000 apx)

Contracted under the top category, though the tally contains more names, Chris Jordan is the final name in the list of the costliest signings in the BBL 2025-26. Another English bowler, Jordan, is a death bowling specialist. Adding to his abilities are his athletic fielding, experience, and pressure-handling, putting his name in the top-earning group. 

4. Sam Curran (AUD 270,000 apx) 

Acquired by Hobart Hurricanes, English player Sam Curran is a true T20 all-rounder. Be it bowling in the power play and the death over or impacting with batting camoes, Curran can do it all. Hence, his multi-role mastery helped him become one of the highest-paid Platinum signings.

3. Mohammad Rizwan (AUD 270,000 apx) 

A highly rated wicketkeeper batsman from Peshawar, Mohammad Rizwan, was claimed by Adelaide Strikers in the Platinum category. His technically sound wicket-keeping and anchoring abilities as a batter fetched Rizwan at least AUD 270,000. Given his dual role on the team, Rizwan is worth twice as much to the Strikers. 

2. Shaheen Shah Afridi (AUD 270,000 apx)

Right behind his Pakistan counterpart is the ace pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi. Considered one of the best left-arm pacers in modern cricket, Afridi was signed by the Melbourne Stars. Contracted under the Platinum tyre, Shaheen may receive the maximum fee available in the top category, namely AUD 270,000. 

Notably, his pace, swinging yorkers and star presence make him a massive match-winner, adding immense value to the franchise. 

1. Babar Azam (AUD 270,000 – 320,000 apx) 

Babar Azam is the most talked-about signing for the upcoming Big Bash season. The Pakistan batter grabbed most attention, becoming the costliest signing for the season. Sydney Sixers acquired the services of Babar, putting him right at the top of the Platinum bracket.

Considering his global fandom and full-season availability, Azam becomes the most prominent name in the 15th edition of the Australian premium T20 league.
