Quinton de Kock has finally burst out of his lean patch in the ongoing IND vs. SA ODI series with a brilliant knock in the 3rd ODI at Vizag. The wicketkeeper batter from South Africa has etched his name into an elite list of having the most fifty-plus runs as a wicketkeeper in ODI cricket.

De Kock's resilience comes after his single-digit scores in the first two matches of the series, and as he struck India with his versatile stroke making, the hosts were merely spectators.

De Kock, though, is not alone in achieving this massive feat, as legends like Kumar Sangakkara and MS Dhoni also add to this elite list decorated by iconic wicketkeepers. Let's take a look at all the elite wicketkeepers who have the record of most fifty-plus scores in ODIs.

5) Mushfiqur Rahim - 54 fifty-plus scores

Mushfique Rahim, the Bangladesh veteran wicket-keeper batter, has been one of the batting pillars for the country during his days. With 54 fifty-plus scores in ODI cricket, Rahim's career is a highlight of grit and power, where he has 49 fifties in his ODI career.

Having 7795 runs at an average of 36.42 defines his consistency in the game, as he hung up his boots in the format in March 2025. While he continues to enthral in Tests, Bangladesh and the cricketing world will not forget his class in the white ball format anytime soon.

4) Quinton de Kock - 55 fifty-plus scores

Quinton de Kock punished India for a 106-run stand in the 3rd ODI at Vizag before Prasidh Krishna uprooted his stumps, and he walked back in disdain. However, his knock was one that defined his class, that beat to be one of the best in the business in the white-ball format.

De Kock has 32 fifties and 22 centuries to his name in ODI cricket, while having 55 fifty-plus scores. With over 7000 runs from 160 matches, De Kock is still a brutal opener for the Proteas side as the team continues to ride on the wicketkeeper's back.

3) Adam Gilchrist - 69 fifty-plus scores

Adam Gilchrist didn't just keep wicket for Australia; he often decided games from behind the stumps with a bat in hand. As a wicketkeeper-batter in ODIs, he was an amazing force, amassing a remarkable 69 scores of fifty or more.

The staggering number of 55 half-centuries and 16 centuries showcases not just consistency, but a dominant attacking mindset that revolutionised the role forever.

Blending explosive power with elegance, he scored his 9,619 ODI runs at a stunning strike rate of nearly 97. Gilchrist transformed the wicketkeeper from a supportive player into a primary match-winner, making his monumental tally a lasting proof of his genius.

2) MS Dhoni - 83 fifty-plus scores

The India legend and one of the most successful captains of the team, MS Dhoni, has also contributed with the bat despite coming very low down the order. Noticeably, Dhoni has 83 fifty-plus scores to decorate his ODI career that has 10,773 runs.

Dhoni's batting career in ODI cricket also sees 10 centuries and 73 half-centuries as he keeps his strike rate at 87.56 from his 350 one-dayers. As Dhoni retired on August 15, 2020, from the format, his career will be one to reflect upon, as the finisher did his job many times as well as a striker at the top, besides his duties behind the stumps.

1) Kumar Sangakkara - 114 fifty-plus scores

Kumar Sangakkara has been often compared with MS Dhoni in terms of stature, yet his class sets him apart. While Dhoni was known for brutal hitting, Sangakkara was one of the most elegant players in the game, whose drives used to spell magic for the crowd.

The Sri Lankan legend has 114 fifty-plus scores in the format, with 14,234 runs and 93 fifties beside that. He also averages 41.98 from 404 ODis before calling his time on March 2015.
