Cricket is a sport that demands immense dedication, skill, and endurance. Within this fascinating game, only a handful of players have managed to display unparalleled consistency and longevity.

In the ever-evolving world of cricket, where physical endurance, mental fortitude, and skillful precision intersect, a remarkable feat stands as a testament to the dedication and consistency of a select group of players.

Playing a single Test match requires immense preparation and effort, but to play 100 or more consecutive Tests is a rare achievement that reflects unparalleled commitment to the sport. These cricketers, by taking to the field match after match without interruption, have not only showcased their exceptional abilities but have also become living examples of resilience and unwavering passion for the game.

Among these brilliant cricketers, a select few have achieved a truly remarkable feat: playing 100 consecutive Test matches. This extraordinary milestone demands not only exceptional skill but also a resolute commitment to the game and incredible mental and physical strength.

Ashes 2023: Nathan Lyon will become the sixth cricketer to feature in 100 consecutive Tests

The ability to remain consistent, injury-free, and mentally sharp over such an extended period sets these cricketers apart and makes them the true legends of the game. There are only five cricketers to date who have played 100 consecutive Tests.

Another cricketer, who is going to join this coveted list on Wednesday is Australian spinner, Nathan Lyon. The veteran bowler will become the sixth player to play 100 consecutive Tests when he takes the field in the second Test of The Ashes 2023 at the Lord’s in London. Lyon also has the opportunity to reach the 500-wicket milestone at Lord's as he just needs five more wickets.

The seasoned spinner’s streak began at the Old Trafford Test during the 2013 Ashes campaign. Since that point, Lyon has entrenched himself as an indispensable asset to the Australian Test squad, occupying the spinner's role in every single match they have contested henceforth.

Lyon's forthcoming feat is an extraordinary accomplishment, as no other specialized bowler, whether of pace or spin, has come remotely close to his impending record. The closest contender, India's Anil Kumble, achieved a remarkable sequence of 60 on the trot spanning from October 1992 to May 2000.

While a handful of versatile bowling all-rounders do make their mark in this list – the Garfield Sobers of the West Indies (85), India's stalwart Kapil Dev, and England's iconic Ian Botham (both with 65) – the grueling nature of bowling at the Test level renders such enduring consistency a rarity.

In this listicle, we will take a look at the players who have played 100 consecutive Tests in their careers.
