Few teams in cricket history have mastered the drama of a run chase quite like Pakistan. Renowned for their flair, unpredictability, and an almost supernatural ability to thrive under pressure, the Men in Green have scripted some of the most heart-stopping ODI victories by hunting down towering targets.

From iconic comebacks against arch-rivals to rewriting record books, Pakistan’s batting lineup, often fuelled by mercurial geniuses and unheralded heroes, has turned improbable chases into an art form. This listicle dives into Pakistan’s greatest ODI pursuits, where nerve, skill, and sheer audacity collided to create cricketing folklore.

5. 327 Runs (Against Bangladesh)

To start off with the list, Pakistan managed to chase down a mammoth 327 runs of target against Bangladesh during the 8th Asia Cup match back in 2014. Ahmed Shehzad, Fawad Alam, and Shahid Afridi were the stars who weaved the path to victory.

While Shehzad notched a tonne, Afridi and Alam scored 59 and 74, respectively, to chase down the total in the last-over thriller with just one ball remaining.

4. 337 Runs (Against New Zealand)

The fourth one on the list features a 337-run target chased by Pakistan when New Zealand came in to tour the country in 2023. The 2nd ODI saw Daryl Mitchell post 129 runs and the skipper Tom Latham score 98 from the Kiwi's side.

In response, the star opener, Fakhar Zaman, bashed a massive 180-run stand off 144 deliveries along with contributions from Babar Azam's 65 to chase down the total in 48.2 overs.

3. 345 Runs (Against Sri Lanka)

Pakistan chased down a total of 345 runs in the 8th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka. The match saw the Lankans post a daunting total with major contributions from Sadeera Samarawickrama and Kusal Mendis, both of whom racked up a ton each to propel Sri Lanka to such a behemoth of a total.

In response, unfazed, Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan (131*) and Abdullah Shafique (113) geared themselves up to chase down the target with 8 balls remaining.

2. 349 Runs (Against Australia)

In the 2nd ODI of Australia's tour of Pakistan back in 2022, the Men in Yellow racked up a gigantic total with help from explosive opener Travis Head (89) and Ben McDermott (104).

However, Pakistan's top and middle orders were quick to pick it up as 'King' Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq paired up to cut the chase short. While Babar racked up 114 runs, Imam-ul-Haq dug up 106 runs as Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah completed the chase with six balls to spare.

1. 353 Runs (Against South Africa)

Pakistan's highest total ever chased, however, came from the recent Pakistan, South Africa, and New Zealand Tri-Series in 2025, where the Men in Green managed to push past a total of 352 runs in 49 overs. In the 3rd ODI, Proteas' skipper Temba Bavuma, Matthew Breetzke, and Heinrich Klaasen notched up a gear to score explosively.

However, in response, Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan and all-rounder Agha Salman bagged centuries to give South Africa a taste of defeat. While Rizwan bagged 122 runs off 128 deliveries, Agha Salman posted 134 off 103 balls.
