The list of top individual innings between India and South Africa in One Day Internationals is notably dominated by Indian batters. The top six highest scores in these face-offs have been achieved by the Indians, with the list including legends like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma,  Sachin Tendulkar, and Sourav Ganguly.

5) Shikhar Dhawan – 137 – Melbourne 2015

Among the Indian batters, Shikhar Dhawan has one of the best records in ICC tournaments. Six of his 17 ODI hundreds came in the World Cup or ICC Champions Trophy. During the 2015 World Cup, he scored his first World Cup hundred at the MCG, and it came against the Proteas.

Despite losing Rohit Sharma early, Dhawan built formidable partnerships with Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane to bat South Africa out of the match. Dhawan scored 137 off 146 deliveries, which helped India post a massive 307/7. South Africa lost the game by 130 runs.

4) Sourav Ganguly – 141* - Nairobi 2000

Sourav Ganguly delivered a stellar performance during the semifinal of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2000, as his unbeaten 141 stands as one of the highest scores by an Indian in ICC knock-out matches.

As always, Ganguly was particularly severe against left-arm spinners. South Africa's designated spinner, Nicky Boje, looked helpless. He managed to bowl only two overs, conceding 26 runs. Ganguly's aggressive batting helped India score a massive 295/6. India eventually won the match by 95 runs.

3) Rohit Sharma – 150 – Kanpur 2015

Rohit Sharma played a remarkable innings, scoring 150 runs at Kanpur in 2015. However, his outstanding performance came in a losing cause as India fell short while chasing a target of 304 set by South Africa.

Rohit did not receive substantial support from the fellow batters. Ajinkya Rahane was an exception with 60 runs. Despite Rohit’s valiant effort, accounting for more than fifty percent of India's total runs in the match, India lost by just 5 runs.

2) Virat Kohli – 160* - Cape Town 2018

Virat Kohli's masterful unbeaten 160 at Cape Town in 2018 is the highest ODI score by an Indian batter on South African soil. His innings was highlighted by his trademark smart running between the wickets, as only 60 runs came in the boundaries. He kept on rotating strikes and capitalised on every scoring opportunity.

The Indian bowlers completed Kohli’s effort. The spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav took 8 wickets collectively and ensured a massive victory for India.

1) Sachin Tendulkar – 200* - Gwalior 2010

This was a record-breaking moment for world cricket. Sachin Tendulkar made history by becoming the first cricketer to score a double century in One Day Internationals. Tendulkar was in sublime form from the beginning, scoring 25 fours and 3 sixes.

In the 50th over, he reached the milestone, bowled by Charl Langeveldt. In the process, India reached 400 for the first time in the format, marking another significant moment in the history of Indian cricket.
