Melbourne Stars spinner Adam Zampa has requested a trade with the Melbourne Renegades side.

Zampa captained the Stars in the last Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23, where his side won the wooden spoon, ending at the bottom of the table.

The 30-year-old, a regular with Australia's white-ball teams, is contracted with the Stars until BBL 14.  A formal trade and binding agreement between both franchises cannot be processed as Cricket Australia's contracting embargo are in effect.

However, as per the Renegades' statement, both clubs have agreed to a non-binding agreement which will be made official once the trading window opens for the 2023-23 season.

Sam Harper will return to the Stars as part of their exchange deal. Harper has scored 1,443 runs in 71 BBL matches.

The leg-spinner joined the Stars back in BBL 05 and has taken 98 wickets for the club. Overall, he has 114 wickets from 98 BBL matches.

Zampa claimed 16 wickets, while Harper scored 264 runs with three fifties in the last BBL edition, respectively.

Zampa will next feature for Australia in ODIs against India next month before playing for the Rajasthan Royals in Indian Premier League.
