On Tuesday, veteran Australian batter Aaron Finch announced his retirement from international cricket on expected lines.

However, the legendary opener has extended his BBL contract, which will see him represent Melbourne Renegades for two more seasons.

Mr James Rosengarten, Melbourne Renegades General Manager seemed delighted to have Finch back in the side.

He also hailed him for his incredible achievements, both as a batter and captain, for the Renegades over the years.

Here's what Rosengarten stated

"Weโ€™re thrilled to have Aaron continuing his career with the Renegades. He has been a Renegade since day one and he has had an unparalleled influence on our club over the past dozen years. Aaron might be calling time on his outstanding international career, but it is clear he is still one of the best players in the country. His performances in the Big Bash this season, in a new role, were exceptional and he continues to have a significant impact on our team through both his batting and leadership."

Regarded as one of the finest white-ball players of this generation, Finch has enjoyed stellar success in the Big Bash League, amassing 3245 runs (second-most in the league's history), including two tons, at a strike rate of 135.17. Furthermore, the Victorian had a successful season with the bat in BBL 12, emerging as the most successful batter for the Renegades with 428 runs in 15 outings.
