Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder, Sophie Devine has stated that big runs are just around the corner for skipper Smriti Mandhana and she is hopeful of building up key partnerships alongside Mandhana in the next few games.

RCB side suffered yet another loss (their third on the trot) at the hands of Gujarat Giants on Wednesday, and are tottering at the last position in the points table. After yet another loss, Devine said that she hopes Mandhana gets amongst the runs and reckons that a big partnership is just around the corner.

"I would certainly like us to go a little bit deeper and score a few more runs. The great thing about these sort of competition is that you get to bat with world-class players and Smriti is really outstanding," Devine said in the press conference.

"She (targets) different areas obviously because she is a left-handed, it makes a big difference, and it is really a good combination at the top of the order. I know she wants to score more runs, I want to score more runs, and hopefully we keep bouncing off each other and a really big partnership is just around the corner," the all-rounder added.

Talking about the match, Gujarat Giants posted a mammoth 201 for 7, courtesy of Sophia Dunkley (65 off 28), and Harleen Deol 67 (45).

In reply, RCB started on a strong note, but faltered mid-way in the chase. Despite a valiant 66 from Devine, RCB lost the match by 11 runs.
