Sam Konstas has become the talk of the town during the Boxing Day Test match between India and Australia, happening at the MCG. The 19-year-old, who averages 42.23 in First-Class cricket, has been fast-tracked to pair with Usman Khawaja after Australia's earlier move to give opportunity to Nathan McSweeney did not work out.

Who Is Sam Konstas?

Konstas started Australia's 2024/25 domestic season on a high note, smashing twin hundreds against South Australia to make headlines. In the process, he became the youngest ever to achieve the feat since Sheffield Shield Ricky Ponting did the same in the tournament.

Now, with the debut cap is on, Konstas is now the fourth-youngest ever to play for Australia in Test cricket.

Overall, Konstas has played 11 First-Class matches, 1 List A match, and two T20s. In the Big Bash League 2024/25, he plays for Sydney Thunder. In fact, he opened alongside David Warner before moving to the Boxing Day Test. He made 56 before falling for a golden duck.

Australia Unscratched So Far

Meanwhile, Australia have reached 9/0 after 5.3 overs after Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are bowling in tandem, but both Khawaja and Konstas going strong.

It is important to note that India would desperately want to win the Boxing Day Test to keep themselves in the WTC 2025 final race.
