Lahore Region Blues pacer, Salman Mirza was on absolute fire during the National T20 Cup 2025 final. The left arm quick grabbed 4 wickets for just 21 runs and broke the back of Peshawar Region’s batting line-up.
He bowled with heart, hustle and serious heat and by the end of the night, he wasn’t just the match-winner, he was the headline.
Now that he’s caught everyone’s eye, fans are asking: Who exactly is Salman Mirza?
Humble Beginnings And PSL Debut
Born on 1 January 1994, Salman’s cricketing journey didn’t start in the limelight. But he made his presence felt in the big leagues when he made his T20 debut for Lahore Qalandars during the 2021 Pakistan Super League on 21 February 2021. That was the first sign of what was to come, a skiddy pacer with the ability to pick up wickets and keep batters guessing.
A Quick Climb Through Formats
After making waves in the T20 scene, Salman expanded his resume in 2023, playing in Zimbabwe’s domestic circuit. He made his List-A debut on 24 November 2023 for the Mountaineers in the Pro50 Championship.
A couple of weeks later, he made his First-Class debut on 6 December 2023 in the Logan Cup. From T20s to the red ball game, Salman showed he could adapt, stay sharp, and deliver across formats.
Salman Mirza Stats That Back The Hype
In T20 cricket, Salman has played 18 matches and picked up 26 wickets. His best bowling figures in the format are 4 /11 and he averages 16.11 runs per wicket with a tidy economy of 6.75. Even better, he strikes every 14.3 balls, which is impressive by any standard in the shortest format.
In First-Class cricket, though he’s still new to the scene, Salman has made a solid impact. He’s played 6 matches, taken 31 wickets and has a best of 6 for 42. His bowling average sits at 21.54, and he’s already bagged both a five-wicket haul and a nine-wicket match haul. Not bad for someone still making his way.
His List A stats aren’t eye-popping just yet. 2 wickets in 3 matches at an average of 43.50 but with more chances, that could change quickly.
National T20 Cup 2025 Final Performance That Changed The Game
It was in the National T20 Cup 2025 final where Salman really stole the show. Peshawar Region were batting first and looked to set up a decent score. But Salman had other plans. Bowling his full quota of four overs, he returned with figures of 4 for 21, taking out the middle and lower order with clinical precision.
His spell broke Peshawar’s spine and restricted them to just 110/9 in 20 overs. The target was chased by Lahore Region Blues with in 16 overs with 9 wickets to spare.
Mirza is not your young, flamboyant debutant. He is 31. But in cricket, it is not always about age, it is about timing. Salman’s hitting his stride at just the right moment.
With his current form and a final performance that’s done the talking for him, a PSL return or even a national call-up might not be far-fetched.Pakistan has a history of rewarding in-form domestic performers, and if selectors are watching, Salman has made a strong case.
