India has long upheld its tradition of awarding top fielding performances, which is proof of the team’s commitment to excellence in every aspect of the game. Following India's 2-0 whitewash of Bangladesh in the two-match Test series, India’s fielding coach T Dilip took the opportunity to shine a light on the key players whose fielding efforts made a world of difference in the series outcome.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj Awarded Impact Fielders

Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Mohammed Siraj were among the players Dilip named as standout performers, though only two walked away with the coveted 'Impact Fielders of the Series' medals.

In a contest where fielding was the cherry on top of India’s dominance, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj were recognized for their remarkable contributions on the field. Jaiswal, who took four crucial catches, received high praise for his efforts, particularly during the second Test.

T Dilip pointed out that Jaiswal’s determination and quick reflexes at close-in fielding positions showed that the youngster is destined to become one of India’s best fielders in the future.

Siraj, ever the workhorse, was also lauded for his sharp fielding. His two catches and electric presence in the field earned him recognition as one of the series’ game-changers. Both players’ impact on the series was highlighted by their ability to convert half-chances into match-altering moments.

Rohit Sharma, as Reliable as a Swiss Watch: T Dilip

While Rohit Sharma missed out on the medal, his consistency in the field did not go unnoticed. T Dilip likened Rohit’s catching ability to the precision of a Swiss watch, highlighting how critical his efforts were, particularly in pressure moments.

Rohit’s one-handed catch to dismiss Litton Das was one for the highlight reels, demonstrating once again that he is a force to be reckoned with, not only with the bat but in the field as well.

As Dilip addressed the jubilant Indian dressing room, he made sure to give a special shoutout to the entire slip cordon, which he called the bedrock of India’s fielding in the series. Fielders like KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Siraj were instrumental in stopping runs and taking sharp catches at crucial junctures, further solidifying India’s dominance over Bangladesh.

India Crushes Bangladesh in Test Series

The series itself was one-sided, with India asserting their dominance from the outset. The Rohit Sharma-led side steamrolled Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test in Chennai, where R Ashwin’s all-round brilliance earned him both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards.

Ashwin became the only player to score a century and take a five-wicket haul at the same venue twice—an achievement that puts him in a league of his own.

The second Test in Kanpur was marred by rain, with only 35 overs of play possible over the first three days. However, India’s quick batting and clinical bowling saw them chase down a modest target of 95 runs with ease, sealing a 2-0 series victory. Despite the short duration of play, India's fielding continued to be top-notch.
