Mumbai Indians' (MI) explosive duo, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, shone brightly during their recent bout against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 46 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

With a daunting target of 215 set, the dynamic pair displayed their prowess with the bat, adding an impressive 116 to secure a triumphant victory for their team with seven balls to spare.

In a post-match video posted on iplt20.com, Kishan, who delivered an exceptional performance by striking 75 off 41 balls, amusingly said that whenever he delivers a spectacular knock, Suryakumar always manages to steal his thunder.

“When you were hitting Sam Curran all over the place in one over just before the strategic timeout, I was thinking whenever I do well, on the same day, he takes away all the credit. This way, people won’t talk about me,” quipped Kishan.

Despite the jovial remark, the MI stumper went on to commend Suryakumar for his aggressive batting, which he claimed had reduced the pressure on him, enabling him to play his natural game.

“During the important phase, you came into bat and started playing good shots. That reduced the pressure on me. That was a big positive in the game and put me in a comfort zone. I could play my [natural] game,” stated the young southpaw.

While Kishan was awarded the Player of the Match for his magnificent innings, Suryakumar's 66 off 31 balls was equally noteworthy, as he belted two maximums and eight fours, including a thumping over against Sam Curran, where he plundered two sixes and two fours, sprinting to his half-century in the process.

With the triumph over PBKS, Mumbai have propelled themselves to the sixth spot in the IPL 2023 points table, securing five wins and enduring four losses from their nine games thus far. Despite a sluggish beginning to their campaign, the five-time IPL victors have now gathered substantial steam and are poised to leverage this triumph for the upcoming games.
