Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match No. 47 of the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The encounter is scheduled at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, May 04, 2023, at 7.30 PM IST. KKR in IPL 2023

Nitish Rana's KKR is going through a poor season so far. The 2012 and 2014 champions have played nine games with just three wins and six losses. However, with 6 points and an NRR of -0.147, they are placed above SRH in the eighth spot in the table.

Last Match

The Knight Riders played their last match against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) and suffered a defeat in Kolkata.

Skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss, and GT elected to field first. Wicketkeeper batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a magnificent knock of 81 off just 39, while Andre Russell smacked 34 off 19 as KKR posted 179/7 on the board.

Chasing 180, right-handed opener Shubman Gill made 49, with captain Hardik getting out for 26. Vijay Shankar then joined hands with David Miller as the former slammed an unbeaten 51 off just 24 while Miller hit 32* off 18 as the Titans reached their target in 17.5 overs with the loss of 3 wickets. GT pacer Joshua Little won the Player of the Match award for his spell of 2/25 (4).

Skipper Nitish Rana won the toss as his side elected to field first. Brook hammered a brilliant 100* off just 55 with 12 fours and three maximums, while captain Aiden Markram hit 50 off 26 as the visitors reached a massive total of 228/4 (20). 

In reply, Rana struck 75 off 41, and Rinku Singh racked up 58* off 31, the target proved out of KKR's reach as they managed to score 205/7. Mayank Markande was the pick of the SRH bowlers for his spell of 2/27 (4). For his match-winning ton, Brook grabbed the Player of the Match award.
