Babar Azam's prodigious rise as Pakistan's modern-day stalwart with the bat may have raised debates around his greatness and comparisons with some of the leading names of Indian cricket. However, the earnest cricketer himself treats legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as his source of inspiration and learning at the international stage.

In a video shared by Indian broadcaster Star Sports heading into the ICC World Cup 2023, the then Pakistan captain was seen talking about his admiration and respect for Kohli and Rohit and how much he adores the two great batters for their tremendous body of work.

Babar hailed Kohli and Rohit as well as New Zealand veteran Kane Williamson as his favourite set of batters in the game today, with the three esteemed cricketers upheld among the finest players in Tests, ODIs and T20Is at the highest level.

When Babar Hailed Rohit, Kohli

Babar spoke with a grin on his face for Kohli and Rohit, two Indian icons from whom he has learnt a lot over the years. The Pakistani giant underlined attributes he admires about the trio, including Williamson, and said their ability to read the conditions well and adjust their games accordingly is his envy.

"Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Kane Williamson are my favourite batters in the world. They're the top players in the world. They read the conditions well, that's why they are the best. I admire them," Babar said.

"The best thing I like about Virat, Rohit and Kane is how they get the team out of difficult situations and score runs against tough bowling. This is what I try to learn from them," he added.

Babar, who is currently undergoing a sustained dip since the start of the ICC World Cup 2023 in India, will be once again taking inspiration from the Kohli, Rohit and Williamson trio for their sheer adaptability and tendency to bounce back from strife.
